Just for the heck of it, I’m going to use it to bring adjacent matching reinforcements into a battle (provided they didn’t move)

I’m in the process of trying this optional idea in 1775. I add one ‘reinforcement’ unit into an on-going battle for each command roll, within the following rules:
- unit must be adjacent to the battled area
- unit must color-match command roll
- unit cannot have already moved
- unit cannot come from an area with an upcoming battle
It has turned the tide in some cases, very interesting twist so far.

By far my favorite in the series so far (although not enough plays in 1754).

There are plenty of twists and turns as is, and 'tide turning'.

Why do you think this is necessary? Were you games getting dull?

Hello Steve,
No, this game is never dull! I was playing 878 and bumming about my Norsemen bugging out on me and the idea just hit me. I just played a game of 1775 with this idea of mine, and man, did it introduce some new strategy (also known as anguish). I have this rule-tinkering issue... gotta try new stuff. Liking it so far, can’t wait to spring it on my gaming buds.

Hello!
Of course you can do whatever you like and you did post this in the variant.
I was just curious how many games you have played before you felt the need to 'tinker'.

I cannot say that any two games of 1775 have ever been the same so I am happy with the showroom model.

Maybe after another 50 plays, I might feel the need to tinker as well.

Hey Steve, I just answered your comment over on 1812... well, no two games are alike as you say and it is well put together. I guess I get to tinkering earlier than other folk.
