Just for the heck of it, I’m going to use it to bring adjacent matching reinforcements into a battle (provided they didn’t move)

I’m in the process of trying this optional idea in 1775. I add one ‘reinforcement’ unit into an on-going battle for each command roll, within the following rules:
- unit must be adjacent to the battled area
- unit must color-match command roll
- unit cannot have already moved
- unit cannot come from an area with an upcoming battle
It has turned the tide in some cases, very interesting twist so far.

Humor me please.

How many games have you played with live opponents?

I am curious when you saw the 'light' that this game needed to be more interesting...

I’ve played many 1775 games with live opponents in the last three years. Been a wargamer since the 70s. Had an idea, ran with it. Posted it in case others want to try it, as I have posted other ideas for other games. The folks I play with sometimes come up with such ideas - we try them and go from there.
Edit: sorry about sounding snippy...

Thanks and no intention on my part to be 'snarky' either, but was just curious. Thanks for the answers.

It seems too often, folks play a game once or twice (or worse, just read the rules) and come up with ways to 'improve' it in their minds.

Then they come here for some public adulation.

I wish I had the creativity to actually figure out the games as published enough to then come up with variants. I have a hard enough time developing a strategy in each game as I find them all very fluid and no two ever alike.

But to each his own and sounds like you have played the game enough to make you think it needs some additional spice. Cheers.

I hear what you’re saying, Steve. Some of us get carried away.
