Just had more sessions with the new Tragic Event Fire and Event Decks.

This time i included the new Fire Prevention Specialist. During the game I really got to love the guy.

A lot of times he was hogging a chair next to the Fire Sprinkler switch in the subway board I was playing. Whilst munching his sandwich he was mostly just moving the smoke out the doors and moving unrevealed POI counters towards the fire exits

Important is: keep in mind that you have to move smoke counters and POI counters on the shortest possible route to the next fire exit. But it did work. It was more about choosing which POI counter to move when. Basically, he moved them into the helping hands of the rest of the team who could reveal and carry them the last steps to the exits.

Also crucial was, that the Fire Prevention Specialist could NOT reveal the POI counters from afar! This actually lost me the game in the last round! I had the 7th (still unrevealed) POI counter remote controlled to my Fire Captain on one of the ambulance spots/exits outside the grid. But the counter was still on its "?" side, i.e., the victim wasn't rescued yet I think, since a firefighter still has to be on the same spot as the unrevealed POI counter and actively has to do a reveal action for 0AP when it is their turn.

Well, the way I see it, the Fire Captain was still fiddling with the sprinkler switch from his previous turn and didn't recognise that a victim had stealthily moved up to him from behind

Then, disaster struck! A double whammy explosion exhausted my last damage counters and the whole tunnel collapsed on everyone.

Well, teaches me!

Glad you like the guy. The underground station is his natural habitat.

We have yet to try the Prevention Specialist. I see some issues with the class because of how to decide what is the direct way of smoke to move out and of crowding smoke fields so they will ignite (at least with the standard and not Tragic Event rules, which I do not know). How is your experience with those issues so far / how does TE treat the problem?

I need to check out again what happens if you run smoke into smoke. I think one of the tokens just disappears. But if in doubt move the "other" smoke token first! If you run smoke into or into an adjacent space of fire, it ignites and you made a dumb move...

Thanks for the answer. I am looking forward to hearing from other players about their experiences too.

PS:
I am currently play-testing a custom campaign rule system (see the "Sessions"-sub-forum for updates on that). The rule set contains character upgrades for each class of fire fighters and the Prevention Specialist got "Safety Protocol" so far, which allows it to "save" victims moving outside or to an evacuation spot for 2APs, even when the ambulance is not present at the slot. We are currently debating if that is a bit too weak for a special ability (since moving the ambulance costs 2AP too) and adding the ability to remove a smoke field from the board when it reaches the slot at the door, too.
