Folks was best the board game or the card game? And if you can answer this as well please do; is Alien Artifacts better than this game.
Is there space for both or redundant. Thank you.

Board game is MUCH better than the card game.

I find Alien Artifacts to be less thematic, more mechanical with cards, but a "little" bit more challenging.

MoO Conquest feels like a copy to some degree of Star Realms.

MoO Boardgame is great with card choices and just a little bit of take that.

It's not spectacular, but I found it reasonable for the price I paid (35€). The design (iconography and Player board layout) is fantastic. You can teach the game just with the Player boards and an example card and there won't be much need to go back to the rulebook.

Last question. Does it feel like a 4x game?

That's harder to quantify since there are many varieties of 4X game. For me, the one that comes closest to that is the Master of Orion board game.

But still, without a map, all of these feel like a shadow of a 4X game.
