There is a solo variant in the oven. Its has had very little testing. If you are up to it, i could pm you the rules for you to test.

Let me know

Its great that so many players are interested in the solo variant of viral.

Been havin great feedback on this. Which does not necessarily mean that i am having an easy time putting together the rules for this type of play. Its actually quite different from any other mode of play.

Heres what i got so far:
Players control one virus as normal.
2 dummy players instead of just one (using the same deck). Also the dummy players have their viruses shielded upon infecting.
Immune system drops 4 crises using the dummy deck at the start of round.
Whenever the solo player viruses get removed they are returned to the box.

game objective is to reach a certain number of points: 30 for easy game, 35 for normal game 40+ for hard game

also the crises ability now removes crises tokens instead of placing

This looks promising. How about some conditions besides score that cause the player to lose? For example, if virus pop ever falls to zero at the end of phase 6, the player loses (forcing player to use shields and/or manage science) and a little bit of uncertainty in the resolution to make the player push their luck. It would also be more challenging for the dummy players to do more than just spawn each round. If you can convince the publisher to release an expansion, you could include an AI deck for solo play.
