That's video gaming man, not board gaming.

I can quit board gaming any time I want.

Really, I can. I just don't want to. ninja

The article seems to go out of its way to avoid saying that. The word "video" appears only once, toward the end of the article, in an example.

My lawyer sense tells me the WHO did not limit the scope of the disorder to video games, but I can't be sure of that without reading the document.

Pete (will try to get his hands on it)

Admit it, Pete. You were informed of this in person by a team of people wearing lab coats.

A HIPPA violation is when you use your hands during a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos. Common mistake, really.

Jeff (plans to never violate a HIPPO, nor smell one for that matter)

As long as it wasn't a HIPPO violation. Because those things are big, strong, and hungry.

For us Americans, all this means is that therapists and programs will be able to raise the price of treating gaming addiction once it has its own ICD-11 code.

I wonder if there is a way to get diagnosed with this and get a handicapped space at work? We have a million of them not being used and its a waste of prime parking real estate.

Also would be nice if I could use this as an excuse to get BGG unblocked at work. I need it to satisfy my addiction.

Don’t worry we are all in the clear. It is about online and video gaming addiction.

We can all go back to obsessing over how to optomize storage, organize contents for quicker fix.. I mean getting the game to the table, and what game we should get next with extra Christmas money to add to are overgrowing collections.

Awesome, my games just became medication!

Making an appointment today to update my prescriptions, and get a doctor's note for my employer.

I am certain that much therapy is needed. Intense, daily sessions. Potentially all-nighters at times.

Work may be impacted, but hey man, I got a condition ...

I wonder why they never did the same with book addiction, instead there are nicknames for the poor victims like "bookworm" and such.
I know people who own thousands of books. If that isn't addiction, I don't know ... ;-)

It's surprising that they don't have an existing classification that covers addiction to an activity. A general classification seems more useful than one that singles out a specific activity. Maybe it'll help some people get some needed help by providing a code insurance companies will take, but it seems like it leaves many others without a magic code for their insurance.
