*Scene*
A man returns from a trip to his local gaming store with a few packs of the new(ish) Star Wars Destiny Game. Having recently acquired both Kylo and Rey starter sets from the Go! clearance sale (50% off), he is excited to add a few extra cards to fill out the starter decks.

He opens the first pack and a BB-8 die greets him.

Man: "Hmm, don't I have that one already?"

He checks the Rey starter set and, sure enough, a BB-8 stares back at him.

Man: "Well, now I have a playset."

He looks at the other 4 cards and they are ones that he has not seen before.

He then opens the next pack. A BB-8 die peeks out!

Man: "Surely, not again? What am I supposed to do with this one?"

The other 4 cards look useful, although he now has another Patience (to go with the first pack). He opens the next pack ...

A BB-8 die slyly slides out!!

Man: "What on earth? Is this the only rare in the game? Singles it is from now on."

Another Patience sits within the set of commons. Of this, he has none.

Haha excellent show sir!

Seriously, that's very disappointing. When I buy boosters for any game in store, I get every other one, in case that happens

I would likely not buy boosters from a game store that sells singles. You may find that the Legendary cards are a bit hard to come by... whistle

Is there a way to know where they are (the Legendaries)? I don't think any of the stores near me sell singles - I am just curious about your warning.

Each box of packs will contain 6 packs, randomly, that have a Legendary card. An unscrupulous store that opens packs to sell singles could open packs until they hit their 6 Legendary cards, then stop and start on another box. Odds are fairly good that they will have 1-5 packs remaining that they know do not have a Legendary because all 6 were opened. Set those aside and start on the next box. Loose packs can then be added back to an open box for single pack purchase later.

Now that takes some effort and word might get around that nobody is hitting the Legendary cards but I wouldn't put it past some stores based upon reputation.

Thankfully Cool Stuff Maitland does do anything like that with any of their games. They open fresh boxes right there for all to see.

I hate that the dice cards from the starters like BB8 are sold in packs and seem to be very common rares. I have way too many of them and feel your pain.
