I am considering a move to the Seattle area from the SF Bay Area. There is a very large array of gaming groups and stores available here that I regularly participate in or visit. I was wondering what the gaming scene is like in the Seattle area? I would likely live in or near Bothell. Thanks for any input!

Also, plenty of board game cafes. In fact, perhaps every "real" cafe has some board games :-)

Thank you both! The club concept is very interesting and is not something very prevalent in the Bay Area, at least to my knowledge. I would certainly be interested in joining one of the examples linked if my move to Seattle becomes reality.

Mox in Ballard is my personal fav, but I'm biased because it's closest to my house.

Zulu's is in Bothell. They're a good store, and I'm sure it'd be easy to find gamers there.

I recruited the majority of my game group on BGG. You won't have a problem finding gamers here in Seattle.

Welcome!

In the Puget Sound area, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a board gamer. That's especially true if you work in the tech industry.

Sounds great everybody! Hope to get a job offer this week and a move could happen pretty quickly. I am in the biotech industry.

Hey, I'm a member too!

Wanted to extend a welcome to the OP as well. I'm based in Seattle, but I too can attest that Zulu's in Bothell is a nice store with a comfortable feel. If you're ever looking for someone to play with, hit me up.

What kinds of games are you into?

Thanks for the warm welcome all! My start date in Bothell is Feb 20. I will be in corporate housing in Lynwood for up to 6 months. I'll be there on my own until my wife joins me around July/Aug. So that should mean lots of time for gaming! I definitely will check out Zulus in Bothell as well as the metroseattlegamers group (am already on the mailing list). I play a wide range of games from wargames to heavy euros to ameritrash to miniatures games. If there are any groups in the Bothell area that are looking for new members please let me know. I won't have that much room to bring games with me so my collection will be limited at start. One game I will definitely bring and want to play a lot more of is Gaia Project.

If you are going to be here by the 20th then you are in time for the South Sound Board Game Convention on the 24th and 25th.

How often do you get together for a game of Dominant Species? I just p500 preordered it. It looks so fun!

@ aennea - Awww thanks! I will miss our great group.

@ bradray - thanks for the heads-up on the SSBGC. I will try to check out but its location looks like about 80 miles from Bothell/Lynwood. Not sure how my first week will go but I'm sure the con would be a great way to connect with local gamers.

@ paigew - I will definitely contact you after Feb 20 when I am in the area.

@ zjensen3 - I am always up for a game of Dominant Species!

If you will be living in Lynnwood, Around The Table is a great game place. Food, drinks, and about a dozen tables.
