Anecdotal response: the average age at my favorite store appears to be around 30. They have 5-6 employees that I know of. They might have one person as young as 20.

They are old, aren't they?

For an apricot, yes. For a head of lettuce, even more so. But for a mountain, they are not even begun in years. However, for game store employees, they are just right.

my local one is mostly late 20's to late 40's

She's had a couple early 20's but they didn't last long.

The two guys who own my main store are in their early 30s.

There's another local game shop owned by a guy in his 40s or 50s, but they have a ton of workers in their teens and twenties. Two of the kids aren't even old enough to drive. It's a comic/game shop, though.

that's harder at a larger game store like cool stuff... I usually only see the employees working the front desk... but they've got a lot more employees than that at least at their warehouse location (maitland fl) fulfilling orders, website, management, accounting, etc

I suggest base poster actually call various game stores and collect broader data than one will get here in this thread... that's assuming they really want to know (doing a paper for a class, etc) vs. just curious

That's a typical Californian answer. It's clearly 51.12.

all the stores that i frequent tend to be 30's and the owners in 40-50's. 1 store is a little younger but they seem to be mainly playing magic the gathering there.

I think if you see a teenager working in a small games store it's usually a good bet they are related to an owner in some way.

This was my thought as well when I saw the OP. We have 8-10 shops in our metro and I don't think there is anyone I'd consider a teen working at any of them. Mostly all 25-35 in age, with a couple stores where they are all above 40.
