I keep seeing this term but can never seem to nail it down to one BIG issue (one more prevalent than another).

It varies. In my lifetime it's been the miners' strike, the winter of discontent, the Falklands war, time for a change and Brexit, among others. A land fit for heroes was before my time.

abortion or gunz. I've had liberal people tell me that they don't care about anything but keeping their gunz.

I'd go with ^

It used to be abortion, now it's shifting to guns.

The good trick is if it has single-issue voters from more than one side.

He's looking real sharp in his 1940's fedora. He's got nerves of steel, an iron will, and several other metal-themed attributes. His fur is water tight and he's always up for a fight.

If it wasn't for single-issue voters, I don't think there'd be two sides.

For it to be a single issue the person has to vote against what would otherwise be in their best interest. Rural poor and guns. Abortion is a bit more fungible.

Given that Tony Perkins (a much holier-than-thou evangelist moral majority type) is willing to support a porn-star-fucking cheating-on-wife embezzling tax-dodging New-York-City-rich-dude twice-divorced libertine like Donald Trump based on Trump's policy on abortion*, I'd have to agree that abortion's the biggest single-issue issue.

*what's the over-under on abortions Trump has paid for?

I guess the other way to think about this is the issue of:

The Supreme Court.

But that's almost just another way of saying it's about abortion.

I would put guns first. Abortion is close though.

I wonder about race/racism too.

Does it count if nobody will ever admit it?

The weird thing about the guns issue is that I rarely see people that fit the "caricature" of "the other side." I see plenty of pro-gun folks who literally think they have a Constitutionally-protected right to tanks & rocket-launchers, but I've never encountered a "liberal" who secretly yearns to completely disarm the gun-owners of America.

Abortion seems to be a more honest split: Womens' rights vs. the rights of "the unborn." Those are 2 sides where real people actually harbor those actual positions.

I'm certainly NOT for taking everyone's guns away BUT, if it came about that all guns were eliminated I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

I'd say White privilege, and how there is not more of it. Or how about the horror that the 1% is suffering thru from paper cuts while counting all that tax refund money.

What is a wargame? Lemme tell ya, that is a HUGE BIGLY controversy. BIGGEST EVAH!!!!

To be serious, I think single issue politics is so, like, 1990s. These days, it's ideology, extremist ideology. The Left and the Right have their extremists, and they're the ones framing the national political debate. All these positions above )abortion, guns, religious laws, racism) are now neatly divided by ideological bent, so what matters now is not whether or not you're pro-choice or pro-gun, it's whether you're a Republican or a Democrat.

It's definitely abortion. I understand guns are big too, but nothing moves people to emotional irrationality like abortion does.

I'm kind of with this, feels like for the right, the "Single Issue" changes daily according to what they're told to be mad about.

I'm a single issue voter. My issue is taxes. I will vote for whatever candidate I think has the highest probability of decreasing my taxes or lowest probability of increasing them.

So your single issue is being selfish and shortsighted? Bold admission!
