Well, we asked if people would like to have the upgraded sides have unique names on the mounts and weapons. The answer was a resounding yes! So, with this in mind, please make suggestions below--genuine suggestions.

Ideally, we would have some historical references to actual famous mules, horses, and firearms of the time.

Do your best, bandits!!!

When asking "What would Jesus do?", remember that flipping over tables and using a whip are within the realm of possibilities.

Maybe not quite what you are looking for but:

Aristides, won the first Kentucky Derby in 1875.

Comanche was General Custer's horse.

My apologies, but it appears I was wrong. Comanche was the horse of Captain Myles Keogh, and was known for being the only survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn.

1. I realize it's not from a Western genre film, but you have to name one of the shotguns "Boomstick".

2. Nash Buckingham (who's from after the turn of the century, but still close) had a shotgun famously named "Bo Whoop."

3. Davey Crocket apparently named all of his guns "Betsy," so whatever gun you're short on names for, there ya go.

You absolutely MUST include Hambone the Mule. He was the U.S. Army's last official pack animal, assigned to the 4th Field Artillery Battalion. Today, he is buried across the street from the 4th Infantry Division Artillery Headquarters on Fort Carson, Colorado.

Though he lived a bit after the time in the game, he represents a long, proud line of pack animals that served the U.S. Army with distinction.

I should also throw out Algonquin, the pet pony of the Theodore Roosevelt family, who was a "guest" at the White House.

Horses

Phantom
Clyde
El Diablo

Mules

Surly Sam
Prickly Pete
Gassy Gus

Firearms

--Revolvers:

Fire and Brimstone for dual-wielding revolvers.
The Patron Saint of Lead
Lead Slinger
The "______" (real legends don't name their guns)
Widowmaker is always a good one.
Ole Betsy seems to be a common one.

--Shotguns:

Thunderstick
Smoke-Pole
Belly Buster
Big Boy
Pappy's Ol' Dinner Git'r

Edit: Are the legendary items "first come, first serve" or can potentially every player have the same updated item? If there are 6 legendary cards per item, I think it would be fun to have a bunch of cool sounding ones, and then 1 or 2 funny ones. For example, "Gassy Gus" from above. The mule is "legendary" but not in a cool way. He's the gassiest mule of the west. That way, even buying items can be a fight to get the coolest sounding one. Or not, maybe you'd want the gassiest mule of the west. He'd definitely clear out a bandit camp

Apparently these were some horse names (they might already have been mentioned and might be some ficitve ones as well):

- Buttermilk (Dale Evans): buckskin quarterhorse mare
- Trigger (Roy Roger)
- Silver (Lone Ranger)
- Scout (Tonto): pinto Mustang gelding
- Topper (Hopalong Cassidy): Arabian white stallion with black ears
- Champion (Gene Autry): sorrel Quarter horse stallion with flaxen mane and tail
- Buckshot (Wild Bill Hickok)

Not fitting in the historical correct rules but if I had a donkey/mule, I would name it Kong. Because Donkey Ko...

I'm sorry, I'll be sitting in that corner now.

Absolutely! I would start off with getting the firearms of the times model and make right first though, ie. Colt .45 instead of pistol, Schofield .44 instead of "PeaceMakers" (of which the Colt 45 SAA was.), .44 Henry repeater instead of 'rifle', etc. This would add insight to the unknowing, about the guns of the era, as well as offering more choices to players. Custom made firearms could be named specifically, ie a nickel plated, ivory handled Colt .45 could be "Hollidays Harbinger". A few movie themed guns would be welomed too, ie, "Mankos Rattlesnake" (The pistol Eastwood carried in the 'Dollars' trilogy.) Horses 'Rainy', 'Wildfire', 'Hidalgo', 'Old No. 7' (pack mule). A couple more suggestions, the combat seems a little too underwhelming in the game, no real sense of danger of losing your character or your pals in a shootout. The Wild West had short ,but brutal firefights due to the nature of those weapons calibers being so large. Maybe an optional rule emplaced to make the firefights deadlier, so players won't necessarily cherish getting into one without a sure hand. Finally, i'd love to see expansions, example 'The Young Guns' with the regulators and Billy's avoiding Pat Garret, all the while rustling as much as he can. Or, 'The White Buffalo', based on the 77 movie with Wild Bill and Crazy Horse going after a murderous 3000 lb. Bovine, with Custer and bounty hunters right on their heels. Just some suggestions to what is looking to be a real sweet endeavor of a game (remember the popularity of Shadows of Brimstone?) I haven't gotten aboard yet, but I certainly will go big if I can. Respectfully yours, Mark K.

Another idea to come to mind regarding the upgrades, is not knowing what that upgrade could be till you've spent the loot to upgrade it. IE, two Colt .45 cards at the shop, you buy one (not looking at the back of the card), you get it upgraded, and Voila! A nickel plated ivory handle Colt with great specs. Another player does the same, but it turns out a smoke wagon (a black powder pistol with slightly less stats.) Same could apply to horses, etc. Adding that element of surprise or making the other player consider buying a new one or robbing you for yours!
