We are looking for some recomendations. We are looking for some good 2 player games that play in less than an hour, preferably closer to 30 minutes, don't deter side conversations, and have some player interaction. Most of our games tend to be longer play times and turns are more thinking of your next move vice being able to talk about the day. We don't like "take that" type games or "solo" games where your just both at the same table but have no interaction.

Some of our favorites that meet this:
Tiny Epic Galaxies
Mottainai
Roll For It!

Looking into:
Battle Line
The Fox in the Forest
Hanamikoji

Any recomendations to look into that are currently available and not out of print?

In addition to the games you're already considering, I'll mention:
Pagoda
Sagrada (maybe less direct interaction but so relaxing and pretty)
Century: Spice Road
Splendor
Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King
Kingdomino
Paperback
You didn't ask for one but Pandemic: The Cure makes a great co-op.

Fox and Forest or Jaipur are both great. Games. Also I like 7 Wonders Duel. Pretty standard answers for two player games but maybe for a reason.

Really surprised no one has mentioned Santorini yet. Plays quickly with a nice amount of strategy but doesn't lead to long pauses of AP.

Some great suggestions upthread, including your own idea to investigate The Fox in the Forest. The list is, however missing Lanterns: The Harvest Festival, Keltis: Das Kartenspiel, and Caverna: Cave vs Cave. Plus, there are any number of good abstracts (Quoridor, Quarto et al.) from which to choose.

There are LOTS of great geeklists for two-player games with tons of suggestions for all sorts of situations.

Good gaming!

I agree with David that the games you've listed would all be great.

Two games that have recently filled this role for my wife and I:
+Through the Desert: A Knizia tile-laying game that recently got a reprint. Lighter and plays a bit faster than Samurai (which is also fantastic and would also work as weeknight game).
+Deep Sea Adventure: A very fast playing push-your-luck game. Plays closer to 15 minutes, and a fun game.

Enthusiastic +1 for Hanamikojo. It's a simple, beautiful game where each decision feels so important. Great interaction too.

She's Asleep! - Games for time poor couples with infant(s) is a great GeekList of games that fit your requirements of time and tiredness at least.

My wife and I have been known to break out the following of an evening:
Odin's Ravens
Jaipur
Perry Rhodan: The Cosmic League -- although this is out of print, it is easily available on the secondary market.
San Juan

As far as Battle Line/Schotten Totten goes, you'll end up playing it in complete silence because you're constantly trying to keep track of possibilities. But it such a good game.

One game similar to Battle Line that might allow more conversation -- and is a conversation piece in its own right -- is The Twelve Doctors. It's the best Dr. Who themed game I've seen, so if you like the franchise, it's worth a try.

But it isn't an easy game to talk during either.
