If you're going to make jokes whose premise relies on being nitpicky about shapes, you might want look up what the difference is between a rectangle and a square.

I believe they should actually be called irregularly troncated rectangular boosters.

The "round" boosters are probably trying to make the hexagonal knowledge tokens feel better for failing to meet the octagonal standards set out by the iconography of the game.
