Anything to remember or think about?

Its been a long time (8 years) so I'm very rusty. Not sure which side I'll be playing.

Read over the recruitment and attrition rules... twice.

Also, I prefer playing with the anti-Royalist rollback adjustment - the Protestants need one less center to win at the end (IIRC).

The interception rules are different than most CDG's.

Consider keeping hold of your “ace-in-the-hole” card as long as possible.

That’s the lesson I’ve learned from one play so far.

The Coat of Arms of Clan Montgomery - Scotland. Yes, that's a woman with the head of a savage in her hand, and an anchor. No clue what it means, but it's cool.

I had a tough time with this one, coming back to it after several years. It didn't help that I had a really excellent opponent, but the game seemed like all Greek to me - my opponent played so well, and I so poorly, that I think Charles was beheaded by Turn 5.

So I can't give any advice.

Watch "Cromwell" before playing to get psyched up.
Don't take the siege armies until you actually need them.
Make sure you understand the implications of the new model army (late war card).

If you're Parliament, take the South first (I usually start by sending Essex to besiege and take Oxford with the siege train - and Rupert often comes down from the Welsh border to stop me). If you clean up the south, it can be difficult for the Ungodly to get back in there, and that tends to neutralize Hopton. It also means you have many of the economic areas tied up (have to work on those multi-area ones!)
