So just played this the other night. Four man crew. Played the family version three times and advanced twice. Total of five times. We won once. Last game of the night in fact. Is that good, bad or indifferent?

I would expect to win more often once you get a better feel for the game. My son and I can usually win at the veteran level with the exception of the highrise building.

It should be noted too that the game gets more difficult the more players you have. We will win a 2 player game maybe 3 times out of 4, but we'll win a 6 player game once for every 5 games.

On recruit level I would expect to win,
Veteran is 50/50 and what ever the hardest difficulty is called more like 1 out 5.

This obviously depends on the map as well with high rise and both dangerous waters maps being particularly difficult.

With a four man crew we like to play CAFS, rescue specialist, diver/operator, fire captain as a dream team!

Just got back into this game with the new fire deck and love the events that now happen! It is part of our 10 x 10 and so will be seeing the table more this year!

We usually play with 4 firemen and I expect us to beat the map on recruit level and succeed on Veteran 3/4 times.
There are a few exception to that though:
-- Connected starting fires
Having starting fires close to each other within the first few turns is very likely to cause flash overs and more explosions. The airport map is a prime example of that, because wing/walls take damage but do not prevent the spreading of fire
-- Early escalation
Adding two or three more hot spots to the game within the first few turns (either by bad luck dice rolls or blown up HAZMATs) will escalate the fire a lot faster, before you have your firemen at strategic locations. Structural damage builds up quickly and you run out of time to save the required victims before you used up all the 24 damage tokens.
