Hello BGG users,
I am interested to see what your WPM is and why.

In my case, my WPM is often between 104-110 with 99-100% accuracy. I learnt how to touch type at a rather young age and have since typed a lot on a range of keyboards. I prefer laptops because the keys are easier to hold down. The speed part probably came from never leaving the computer and doing written assignments / taking fast notes. I can write a bit faster but I tend to make more mistakes.

Proof for one of the tests:

(I got mad skills from playing Mortal Kombat in the background lol)

Test 1

Test 2

Test 3

Test 4

Re: What is your WPM?
The last time I did a proper typing speed test (well over two decades ago) I was something over 100 WPM at nearly 100% accuracy. It is likely that I've slowed since then, given that although I do type every day, I don't do it in such a way that my speed would be maintained (or challenged).

Re: What is your WPM?
The last time I took a speed test was in high school (1970), about 100 or so wpm. My Mom made me take a typing class in summer school. I hated it then, but eventually, I was glad she did.

I now type fairly quickly but nowhere near 100 wpm - and with lots of errors. I have developed my own system of typing and it works for me.

FYI - to get to here, I made 7 8 errors.

Re: What is your WPM?
Didn't do the test, but when I was tested I was pretty quick. I took typing in high school. Why? Well I was planning on going to college and knew it would be useful. And the class was me, my buddy John, and 14 girls.

Test one: 160 wpm
Test two: 30 wpm

I believe test two is the more accurate of the two.

I can type like blazes if I am thinking and coming up with my own sentences. If I am transposing what I'm reading, on the other hand, then I'm so slow that it is painful.

26 wpm. In my defense. I had to keep moving the screen up and down because I couldn't see the words and the keyboard both on my phone screen at the same time.

On my phone, I'd be lucky to get 26 wph.

I believe test two is the more accurate of the two.

I am surprised people are seeing such a difference between the two tests. My results were roughly the same - 74wpm for the first, 76wpm for the second. I really don't like the tests though because they are just random words smushed together rather than chunks of sequential text from a book or something. Also no punctuation.

I've kept the Stamina typing program on my laptop for it's one of 4 games I play on it, when I'm not planning a new miniature game dynasty. I'm "proud" to say I'm a strictly 50s typer.

30-44. little lower than I expected and I really think that if I slip a few errors in and am typing my own thoughts, it's a touch higher.

I've never had a class and don't use standard fingers for the keys. I use my middle and forefingers a lot more than I should.
