Hi,
planning to fight fighter attacks on huge ships, I'd like to ask how many fighters are reasonable for the following scenarios:

1) T-Bombers escorted by T-Fighters/Interceptors attack the Tantive which is protected by by some X-Wings and maybe some A-Wings.

2) B-Wings and X-Wings attack the Imperial Raider which is protected by some T-Fighters and Interceptors.

3) Epic battle between Raider and Tantive with various fighters on both sides.

What do you think, which number of which fighters would be reasonable in each of these scenarios?

Thank you very much for your advice!

Huge ships aren't as point balanced as standard ships, but I would just go with that. If your Tantive is 120ish points escorted by 100 points of x-wings, have the opposing side be approximately 220 points. Maybe slightly less.

There are some rules for epic format (tournament rules) here:

Typical Epic play format is 300 points per side. You can distribute these however you see fir per standard list building rules with 1 exception... You can use up to 3 epic points worth of epic ships. Raider and CR-90 are 2 epic points in cost, all others are 1.

Of course that is the official rules, you can play however you want. I have only done 1 epic game, it was a lot of fun, but 1 thing I learned: more is better when taking on epic ships. They can take down small fighters in a just a few shots, TIE fighters likely die in a single shot. So swarms rule the day. With 0 agility you want as many red dice as possible firing on them. They can also regenerate shields pretty efficiently so you must sustain your attack. If you are playing with only a single huge ship, the other side should try to field as many ships as it can. If it is huge vs huge you want a mix of a swarm to take on the opposing huge ship and 1 or 2 well kitted fighters to help defend your huge from the opposing swarm.

I have read on other forum's that when only one side having a huge ship, they are usually at a disadvantage. Smaller fighters, point for point, can usually take out a Huge/Epic ship. So for balance sake, you either need to have the other side with fewer points or both sides bring Epic Ships.

you are right, game balance could be really a problem if only one side has huge ships. So we want to play Imperial Raider with some smaller ships vs. Rebel Transport and X-Wings annd B-Wings, me playing the rebels.

My question now is, which upgrades should I buy for this scenario?

When playing Epic I usually put aside an Army Points pool exclusively for purchasing the Epic Ship(s) and its/their equipment.

Another seperate Army Points Pool is used for the rest of the squadron. Thus it is ensured that the Epic Ship doesn't weigh down the complete squadron composition of the person using it.

It's a houserule, that worked pretty well.
