First of all hello Im new to the forms been mostly a spectator but ran into a few questions. I recently got Gloomhaven, and have been having a blast playing it even though we've only played the first two scenarios. But my question is after beating the second scenario we were given two choices for new quests, if we do quest 1 does that mean we cant do quest two? Or can we go back and do the other quest another time? Is there a certain order to play these scenarios? Or can we play them in any order as they come up?
Thank you

For the specific quests mentioned, the answer is
Spoiler (click to reveal)
no, those two don't block each other.

Quests all list their requirements in the quest book, usually in the form of completed or sometimes uncompleted party or global achievements. There are some scenarios that block off other ones, but it should be fairly obvious which ones are about to do that from the intro text.

However, you should play quests in the order you find most appealing and not worry too much about locking quests off.

If you really, really want to play everything, consider using this flowchart (no quest name spoilers, but massive spoilers for how the scenarios all link together). I really don't recommend it though.

Just to clarify, quests have 4 states: unknown, unlocked, requirements met, and completed. All quests except scenario 1 start unknown. When they are unlocked, you place the sticker on the map. When you want to do a scenario, you can only go to one that is unlocked. Additionally, you may need to check that you meet the requirements for that scenario in the scenario book. Finally, when you complete a scenario is when you mark the checkbox on the sticker on the map.

The 'requirements' part is how you are locked out of certain quest chains. You will get achievements, and when you look up the scenario requirements, it will say you need to NOT have a certain achievement to be eligible for the quest. You can also have the reverse happen - a scenario may be unlocked, but you might look up the requirements and find that you haven't found something else you need yet. You may need to for example, complete scenario A AND scenario B to do Scenario C, but you may be given the option to do A or B in any order.

technically scenario 1 starts unknown too,
and then is unlocked once you read the intro page of the scenario book.

Welcome to BGG. As stated by another, you can checkout the flowchart to see how things flow. But some may view that as a spoiler - to each their own.
