They see themselves as the civilized aristocracy of hell, yet are least among demons. Their culture is built entirely on pride, vileness of speech, and blasphemies.
Resilience: As battle-hardened human
Offense: Knife-boots, spurs, bite. Many use black magic. All can speak invective that causes physical harm to the target of their insult, yet this never slays or completely incapacitates the victim; it can be used as eternal torture though.
Grylli, like all true demons, are experiencing the pleasure of dwelling in a fleshy tabernacle for the first time. Unlike most higher demons the grylli vainly focus on accoutrements and decorating their forms. When possible they will replace the standard issue porcelain head with the actual decapitated head of someone famous or considered wise by mortals.
Their body fluids are profane, and their spittle or blood will negate blessings or enchantment on persons or objects.
Example spell effects a spellcasting gryllus might know are "Corpse Bomb" "Vomit Color" "Levitation" "Recall Larvae" "Hellbrand" "Immolation" "Chains of Hell" "Death Worm" "Augury" and "Anger God"
1. A handful of grylli stand watch. They are distracted from duty by a debate over who among them is most favored by something they refer to as the Philtre...
2. Abraxus Bombastus. A gryllus of great spellcasting prowess, wearing a lofty cornuthaum upon its own head, and upon each of the five human heads impaled along its spine.
3. A regiment of gryllus, in ordered columns with banners flying high. The frontliners are shock troopers with cruel lances strapped to their sides and heavily armored from end to end. Some stand atop palanquin-towers carried about by other grylli, aiming their damaging curses and insults at high priority targets.
An oddly charming bunch.
I thought Gryllus where kind of lame the first time I saw them but they're really growing on me. Like mold, or perhaps some form of carnivorous fungal infection.
