I understand the value, and see this discussed frequently. But how do you execute obvious detail is to allow the Antelope to graze/heal.

But what more? What weapons and set-ups optimize this? Do you deliberately use low strength attacks so they only wound on Crits? I guess fist and tooth is a good choice then?

I don't know if you need to go to that extreme. Just use Cat Eye Circlet to set up the right locations, then use any weapon with Deadly + Lucky Charm. If you want, pass over the non-resource wound locations with attacks that have a lower chance of wounding. Ultimately you want a Bow Master or a survivor with bonus luck but both are hard to get.

Against the antelope I would bring clubs and shields since he has locations that give you 2+ luck if you attack with those weapons. If those survivors have luck charms, they crit on 7's for those specific locations. Deadly weapons in general are a good idea for this fight. I would bring out two Rawhide set users, just so you can use the headband tacticly scout the AI deck. If Chow Down is still available after a few wounds have been dealt let him do that. He'll heal up after a few wounds and you have more chances to get more resources.

One interesting strategy we tried recently was using the Riot Mace. It's a club from the Gorm Expansion, but if you critically wound with it, the next time the monster draws AI he performs basic action instead. His basic action targets a knocked down survivor, and if no one is knocked down he will graze. He wound up healing a bit with just the club, but it went a long way since we only 3 had of his resources left after we drew the 7 usual ones.

Rawhide, Lucky Charm, Utility Item + Deadly Weapon + Monster Grease is the build for attackers. You will also want a support character with one or both of the items that shows HL (Wisdom Potion/Circlet) and a tank character.

Rawhide Headband to control AI cards drawn is important.

Clearing off useless locations is done by attacking with a founding stone/bone dagger or other 2-3 speed 1 strength weapon.

Pick Graves every time to try and get +luck.

Basically, Luck and Evasion are key. The rest is about taking it slow and being patient.

As mentioned above, the Riot Mace (very hard to get) will make farming the antelope a lot easier because you don't need to wait on Chow Down to trigger Graze.

Main monster for this method though is the Flower Knight, that pushover even gives you luck tokens during the fight.

In my current campaign I lucked out and got a Death Mask from a random hunt event.

I tend to always have one survivor running Fist & Tooth speciality, because the specialisation/mastery is so good. It has Deadly I, and as previous comments, graves can give +1 luck, and the blue charm can give luck too.

This lets you crit on 7s, but I wouldn't say I "farm" the deck because that early, a lot can go wrong. I just get the occasional extra resource.

Mind you, this is more viable in a PotS campaign, where purification can sometimes let you increase your luck by one.

I’ve read comments here to the effect that the entire Antelope deck can be farmed off a L1, but in practice this seems like an exaggeration barring some very fortunate luck.

That probably only happens if you get a very good setup, like a bow master or someone with a death mask. If you have someone critting on 6 the extra resources will flow, and letting the antelope fully heal to run through the AI deck twice you could easily end up with 10-15 crit-earned resources. Then you get the 4 for winning (plus the 4 basic) and now you're bringing home 20+ resources from a level 1 fight.

Of course luck will be involved but if you never pick the acanthus and leave them for him to eat and thus heal, prolonging the fight, I could see it as possible. Running only with fist and tooth and luck charms as well, that way the only wounds you cause will be from crits. It's just be a matter of staying alive long enough.

Your tolerance for mindlessly boring tasks will also be seriously tested.

I'm not particularly good at it, but I managed all but 5 of the cards off a L1 without any particularly great luck, and if my choice is that or the whole deck but losing an extra XP, it's not a tough call.
