On the board it says to allocate £4 per cube in the Court of Directors box. In the rules I only saw it mention £4 per cube randomly placed in the Court of Directors. Which is it?

I think this is a good question. The board says, “During setup, Chairman allocates £4 for each cube.” During setup, there are two ways a cube goes in the Court of Directors: whenever a player takes an executive office and by random placement. However, Sec. C3 (in “Setup”) on Page 8 says:
Quote:
For each cube randomly placed in the Court of Directors, the Chairman must immediately allocate £4 from the bank to any of the office treasuries as if it were revenue (G5).

In setup each is worth 4. After that it depends upon the share price.

In either case the allocation is immediate and carried out by the chairman.

So to be clear, the Chairman should immediately allocate 4 for every cube that is placed in the Court during setup, both those paired with executives and those placed because of 1s?

Sorry, 4 for each placed randomly only.

I have played this wrong also until now.
During test play in Essen it was explained that for all cubes in the court of directors 4 money must be distributed.
This should be added to the errata as the board is wrong.

The board isn't actually wrong, it's just a bit terse (this is true for a lot of John Company rules - the language is usually accurate, but very specific).

"During setup, Chairman allocates £4 for every 1"

The board of directors is mostly filled whenever an Executive Office is filled, therefore there are no "1"'s being rolled. The only "1" happens when the remaining cubes are randomly allocated.
