It’s the start of the Belgian Wargame show season and traditionally Warcon 2018, on Saturday February 17, 2018, is almost upon us.

We all expect you in the Kloosterstraat 26 in Merelbeke, Belgium from 10 to 17hrs.

It will be a blast with 23 clubs from Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany with demos and participation games.

Not less than 27 international and national traders have confirmed and you’ll have ample opportunity to spend your hard-earned cash on a plethora of diverse classic and brand new (war)game stuff.

This 29th edition looks even better than the ones before. We will have our trusted B&B stand and ‘koffiekoeken’ and sandwiches will be available. Coffee, drinks and, we wouldn’t be Belgians, a fine selection of quality beers and wines.

This edition is a truly cooperative effort of 3 Ghent wargaming clubs: Gamers Guild, The Red Barons and Bylandt. Entrance is still a democratic 5€ and under 10’s accompanied by their parents get in free. Please have a look at the Warcon page for more info, the documents for the Bring and Buy and a list of clubs and traders.

Join us for the classical Warcon day of genuine fun!

Well, I'm going - as I have been since forever - Crisis is a lot bigger, but WarCon is always the most fun as it's much more relaxed. Recommended.

Hello all,

I'm really interested in this convention but I was wondering, will there also be wargames like in boardgames (CDG's, Hex 'n counter, you name it) as opposed to wargames with scenery and figurines? This is what I find online if I search this event.

Kind regards,

John

It will be mostly miniatures, but at least 1 announced vendor (Boardgamegeneral) only sells board wargames. His prices are good and not having to pay shipping costs also makes a difference.

Some impressions and pictures

A picture from the entrance - I don't have actual numbers but have the impression it drew a bit less public than usual. The 1-year hiatus in the organization might have something to do with that.

The best looking participation table : my mate Bart and his Great Northern War battle between Sweden and Russia

Looks a bit sparse, right ? Well, it should be as it's designed for kids - Panzer Kids - the rules are pretty straightforward and the kids were having a blast

If you're into MegaGames where dozens of people participate in one game, sometimes over various countries you should look into this. It originated in the UK and there's been games getting organized in The Netherlands for over a decade. Now a bunch of local guys want to bring it to Belgium as well. On display is a try-out of a new design, but there's a "De Bello Gallico" game coming up in March. I've participated in that half a dozen years ago and it was a blast. Check Facebook for "Megagames BE"

Say what you will, but nothing looks as impressive then a big table of Star Wars Armada stuff
