Subject: How Often Do Villains Attack rss

My friends and I are having a discussion about the villains and how often their abilities come up. This also concerns the special condition of starting the game.

Quirrel is the best example. Scenario 1: Each turn, the active hero loses one heart. Scenario 2: Only the active hero when he is played loses one heart. Basically, once he is flipped, he does 1 damage total for the entire game.

We also assume that the first player gets hit by all villain abilities at the same time - which can be very tough to deal with at the start of the game.

Which scenario is correct? How does this apply when starting the game?

Unless a specific trigger is mentioned ("Each time..."), villains attack toward the beginning of every turn.

First you flip the Dark Arts Card(s). Then evaluate each Villain from left to right. It doesn't matter whether it's the first turn of the game or not.

EDIT: Just so you know, you don't use all the Villain slots until later games. So if you're on Game 1, you only face 1 Villain at a time. You won't add another slot until Game 3, when you will have 2 Villains active at a time.

Quirrel will deal 1 damage to the active hero at the start of every turn until you manage to defeat him, so scenario 1.

You resolve villain abilities from left to right, one after the other. But basically yes, they all happen at the same time (or rather the same phase).

When starting the game, it's just the same as a normal turn. You decide which one of you will go first and that person becomes the active hero and thus takes 1 damage from Quirrel.
