Hello. Some games my wife likes to play are Ethnos, 7 Wonders, Qwixx, Yahtzee, 5 crowns, and Kingsburg.

I'm not sure what she likes about them, but I know that she doesn't like to read lots of card text on games like Dominion and doesn't want the game to last forever.

3 of the games are very simple and fast: Qwixx, Yahtzee, 5 Crowns
3 are dice games: Qwixx, Yahtzee, Kingsburg
3 are card games: Ethnos, 7 Wonders, 5 Crowns
3 are a little more complicated: Ethnos, 7 wonders, Kingsburg

What would you recommend for a game that plays 2 or more?

Thanks

Maybe Alien Frontiers.

It has dice used as workers (as in Kingsburg) where you are placing combinations of dice (examples might be pairs or straights, or exceed what is already out in that space)

It has area control (as in Ethnos) but with the control of an area granting extra powers...i.e. rule breakers.

It is longer than Kingsburg and has some cards with light text (and you aren’t dealing with many)

Likes dice? maybe a bit deeper but How about:

The Castles of Burgundy

Also, this I think is only better with 3-4 players versus 2 but sounds like her style

King of Tokyo. It had a while yatzee component to it, I think this is a great choice given your list above

As a huge fan of 7 Wonders and Ethnos, I would definitely suggest The Castles of Burgundy, 7 Wonders Duel, and Sagrada.

My husband and I enjoy Discoveries and Las Vegas. Target has the new version of Las Vegas, just labeled “Vegas”.
Also maybe, San Juan (second edition) or Herbaceous?

Lords of Waterdeep, Century Spice Road, and Agricola, could work well. They all seem to have some elements of what she already likes. Maybe even Voyages of Marco Polo as something a bit different.

If you want it on the lighter side, although not best with 2, there's the Machi Koro series.

Quick, dice & cards

Thanks everyone for the replies. They were really helpful and seem right up her alley. Some I had considered, others are new to me. Of the ones mentioned I only have King of Tokyo and Machi Koro.

I will probably go with one bigger one or two less expensive faster ones. Tough decision, I'll have to look into them more.

I would recommend Libertalia: a card game which falls into the "little more complicated" category. It's actually from the same designer as Ethnos.

If you like the idea of Machi Koro, Valeria Card Kingdoms does it better. It's less mean and there are more options on your turn.

I think there is a good chance she'd like Sagrada, I wrote a review on it here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1892629/ludo-lodge-review-s...
