Nowadays I have a number of Real-time games, some have custom apps (Bomb Squad and some don't (Kitchen Rush). I'd really like one timer app to rule them all. But I can't find one - not even if I pay real money. I quite like Multi stopwatch and timer, but it doesn't allow me to save multiple (named) configurations.

Can anybody suggest a timer app that provides the following features:
• landscape/portrait
• tablet support (aside from orientation, there's sizing issues)
• customisable, multistage alarms (e.g. warning at 30s remaining further warning at 10s)
• screen customisation (linking to multistage alarms, e.g. green to amber to red, with the possibility of flashing)
• customisable alarm sounds (ringtone/MP3 and duration)
• optional voice countdown stage of customisable duration
• screen locking to prevent screen timeout
• multiple stored configurations (preferably to cloud storage)
• background sound ("tick" sound or soundtrack options)

I'm sure that there are more features that would be useful, but that's a heck of a list already!

Re: NEEDED: generalized Countdown timer for Real-time games (Android)
Doesn't your device some preloaded with an app that does at least 90% of this?

I was thinking "What? Android isn't realtime!"

I don't know what Android device the OP has, but going off mine (LG G4)...

... I don't own an And. tablet. With the screen timeout, a workaround is to adjust this in the OS settings, although I'm sure an app specific feature would be most convenient.

Yes, that's an accurate assessment of the clock app on my 7.1.1 device. The lack of the features that I require is why the built-in app isn't sufficient for my needs. Nowhere near 90%!

I'd be interested in this also. I currently use the timer in the Stronghold app, as it can be set to any time and has a ten second warning. I'd love a more customisable app though. Game specific apps also add loads more atmosphere, so if we could add random sounds overlayed, all the better (I'm thinking the mocking voice in FUSE and the background jungle noise in Escape: The Curse of the Temple).

If anyone is going to make an app like this I guess it would make sense to include a function to use it like a chess clock, for multiple players, and all the functionality that comes with that. There may be market for that (what do I know?).

This isn't really the same thing, but possible. Although I've already seen quite a few chess-clock apps out there supporting 2 players and more.

I know it isn't the same thing. But since it's what comes up in the play store when you search for game timer, it seems likely that people expect that kind of functionality when they come across an app like this. So I guess if you're going to make a game-specific timer, you might as well do it right and include all the different kinds of timers a gamer may find themself needing.

If I want to bring something to the market that's different to everything else out there. My biggest priority wouldn't be to start making it more like everything else already out there...

The whole point of mobile apps is that you can have many apps to cater to every need, rather than one huge app that just does everything you might ever want to do with your phone.

In my experience of ANY mobile app. The ones that are specialised and specific get used far more than generalised ones. Generalised ones get more attention (due to wider scope), but are more likely replaced with a tailored one.

It was an interesting suggestion, but I agree with the viewpoint that there are plenty of "chess clock" type apps (including one by n_and), and also that the use cases are so completely different that it makes more sense to have different apps (I myself would never use a chess clock app, despite having some very slow players in my main group)

I also use the Stronghold timer for when a simple single timer is needed (I love the warning, but wanted more customisation). I a have a single configuration of the multi-stopwatch and timer app that I reference which I use for playing Kitchen Rush (but I need the ability to create multiple configurations)

There are some sports/workout timers that look like they almost do what I need, but they are too specialised to get them to meet my requirement.
