It seems to me that whenever global thermonuclear war comes up, people tend to focus on the negatives. I think that in interests of being fair and balanced, we should give equal time to the GOOD things. To that end, I will start with a couple off the top of my head:

1) No funerals. Nobody likes them, and they are largely avoided when pretty much everybody dies at the same time.

2) College loan relief. It has been made really hard to get relief through ordinary hardship, but GTNW would definitely clear the board.

Anybody who wants to add to this list is welcome to do so.

We'll have Time Enough at Last, to read all the books we want to.

That Meredith's a plus for Global Thermonuclear War.

There's a short fantasy story (not a clue who the author is) where an agent of Satan is about to destroy the world in a nuclear war. The hero, who for some reason I completely forget is able to talk to the devil, points out that with such a war he will get a massive inflow of souls to hell. But that will be it. He'll get many more in due course without the war, as business as usual continues. Satan agrees that's a good point and cancels the war. The hero is left wondering if he did the right thing.

Well, due to the scarcity of food, obesity will become a thing of the past.

There will be no wondering if it's a sunny day out, it won't be. Well, for about 3 or 4 years at least.

There won't be a need to pay someone to redo your roof. There won't be any roofs.

There will be no need to go to a doctor for a check up. Your prognosis is death, and your time is limited.

No need to rotate those tires on the car now. One of them will be your kitchen table.

No need to go to the barber or hair salon. You won't have any hair to groom.

You can play hooky from school or work. That building USED to be over there.

Fishing will be easy. They'll just be floating to the shore, for easy pick-up.

Oh, and guns won't matter anymore. There will be nothing much left to protect.

Those are my starters. But the list can be longer.

What's more resistant to heat and blast effects? Eurogames with their papery bits and wooden tokens, or AmeriTrash with their plastic goodness?

The answer to this question could change my answer!
