So I head into the first room and there is Mist, I get the 2(#H) and draw 4, one of which is a werewolf. So I retreat, the were wolf gets to take a smack at me. After which there are no other mobs in that room. looking at the rules it does not say what to do with the mobs.

1) do they stay in the room, in which case I just put them on the square and my warriors are stronger
2) do they fade into the mist, never to be seen again?
3) Other?

Never mind it is further down in the rules, about marking the room with the monsters in it.

Yes, they are there to annoy until you take them out. Hopefully you can by pass the room, but sometimes you can't. Then again you can always try and sneak past. But you have to successfully sneak past each enemy. Not an easy task especially for the Warrior.
