In no particular order, here are 10 highlights from the upcoming Rocky Mountains expansion:

Express Station End Tile
Express Station is a new end tile that really encourages players to speed across the board first. It costs 2 whistle / 4 coal, but it scores you 2 points per train still on the way, not including your own train. In a 4 player game, there are 16 trains, so if you get the first train off the board onto the Express Station, you will score 30 points! The huge early point potential of the Express Station is a new target.

New Mountain Board
The board of Whistle Stop contains several jigsaw pieces that connect together. My initial brainstorm for this expansion was for a new board that snaps into the center of the board. This literally expands the play space of the game. The team at Bezier Games upped the ante even further by making some of the positions on the mountain board taller, effectively creating a 3D board, giving players the feeling of going up and over the Rocky Mountains.

Mountain Board Rewards
One of the big twists with the mountain board is that it costs 1 coal or 2 coal / 1 whistle just to place a tile in the mountains. This extra cost is tough, but to balance that out, I added very attractive rewards for players that place in the mountains. Rewards include gaining 1 rare resource of your choice, or 1 rare resource of your choice AND a gold token, or a free upgrade! That's right, the mountain board is seeded with 4 upgrades at the start of the game. If you place a tile on top of where there is an upgrade, you gain the upgrade at no additional cost. This means every game will have 4 more upgrades than usual, offering even more opportunities for combos.

Switch Yard and Private Lines
This new special tile and upgrade have related powers that really let your trains move around in the board in a crazy new way. When your train lands on the Switch Yard special tile, you may immediately move your train to any other stop in the same column. The Private Lines upgrade lets you spend a coal to move your train to another stop in the same column. Who knew trains in the old West could move like this?

Scrap Yard and Salvage Yard
This new special tile and upgrade have related powers that let you spend tiles to gain resources. When your train lands on the Scrap Yard, you may discard a tile from your hand to gain all of the resources shown on that tile or gain 2 coal. The Salvage Yard upgrade lets you spend a coal to discard a tile to gain 1 resource from that tile or 2 coal. In both cases, these new powers provide a new way to get resources and another way to get rid of town tiles late in the game to avoid the -10 points.

New Common Tiles
New to this expansion are three new types of common tiles. There are now regular route tiles that have small stops that give you whistles, gold tokens and any common resource. These new common tiles might appear in your initial setup, giving you new tempting destinations for your train. Pair these tiles with the Scrap Yard and Salvage Yard and you can gain whistles and gold in a new way too.

6th Stock: Rocky Top
The expansion includes shares for a new sixth railroad company, Rocky Top. This provides yet another company for players to fight over to try to get the 15 points bonus at the end of the game.

Double Stock End Tiles and Black Market
There are three new end tiles that provide new benefits--stock! Pay three resources to get a small amount of points but also 1 stock in two different companies. This provides a fast way to get lots of stock. These three end tiles cover all six companies and provide another way for a stock to be on the board. These end tiles pair nicely with the Black Market special tile where you can pay 1 gold to gain 1 stock of your choice (assuming the company is on the board). The Black Market also lets you turn in 1 stock for 1 gold.

Extended Gondola Upgrade
One of the most powerful new upgrades is the Extended Gondola which gives you a 5th action spot. This effectively gives the player a fifth move every turn assuming they have enough coal and whistle tokens. In development, this upgrade was so powerful, we had to tune it back a bit, making the 5th action spot only to be used with a whistle token, but players may do the whistle action in any order.

Mountain Specific Upgrades
There are four new upgrades that pair exclusively with the new mountain board. The Dynamite Cart reduces the cost of placing a tile in the mountains by 1 coal. This can make certain spots in the mountains free to place upon. The Tunnel Network lets the player spend a whistle to skip their train through any undeveloped mountain spaces. This can let the player skip through the entire mountain board! The Mountain Sheds gives the player a free coal every time they move a train in the mountains. This can provide a ton of coal to the owning player. Finally, the Mining Complex gives the player an extra gold token whenever they place a tile in the mountains which can make a player rich quickly especially if paired with the Dynamite Cart.

This is not all of the new content in the expansion, but it covers many highlights I hope you will enjoy.

You're not... uhhh, you're not still looking for playtesters, are you? All of these points are, yea verily, like unto angels' choruses to mine ears.

Also: what's your policy on playtesting components being returned with drool on them?

Asking... for a friend. Yeah, that's it.
