According to GMT's product page the game can be played with one or two players. Scroll all way to the bottom to see it.
However this page says 2 players.
So has the game been redesigned to allow for solo play?

In short, no. It can be played two-handed, using variants such as StukaJoe's solo CDG method, but there is no solo mode included.

GMT has the habit of saying 1-2 players in games that play 2-2 players. The BGG community usually fixes this which is why this forum says 2-2.
