hi everyone.

a little question that i have for some time.

if i want to do an Attack attribute test to say destroy a door, did i roll as normal attack dice (d6)and try get higher score?
OR do i make a regular Test roll (d8) with number of dice as the test's difficulty?

Use the D8, based on door difficulty.
Get value under the STR/Attrak attibute value of the hero making test.

IF less than attribute, success.
If equal or greater, fail, next atempt is -1 die. ***

This was disccsued here in fact with you as participant.

I think the consensus is next test is -1 for each failed attempt to the final value. Some use the -1 die for each failed attmept. The net is the same.

I did a bit of testing assumig a 10die test. the bold values are the sum of dice and the 11th value is the average of all the sums.
THe left partof the chart shows 10 tests with 10 dice, subtracting 1 for each fail. the left most column of group 1 is -0 assuming first try while the 10th row is -9 after 9 fails.

The second group on the right is the same 10 die test but removing 1 die for each fail instead of subtracting one for each fail from final result.

I ran the test 100 times in Excel and i was within 1 , 75% of the time. Of course there are outlier groupings in the sampling rolls.

I found it quite interesting, both methods yeild a similar result.

SO, as the fella in the prvious said...
A -1 from the final total for each fail OR -1 die for each fail, is Mathematicaly the same!..

I say use whichever one seems to fit your style better.
