There are lots of stats about the Tournament Scenario, but I doubt there are good stats about 1517.

I'd actually say 1517 is pretty balanced, though. Also, the game is self-balancing, so everything depends on the players.

This was the most extensive study of balance done (playing over and over with same group).

Note this is before the 500th Anniversary edition changes.
