Just curious...I figured this would be, of all places, where to go to find that someone, somewhere, figured out real-world aircraft loss equivalents to each status (e.g., how many aircraft lost for a Light damage result, Heavy damage result, aircraft replacement point loss, etc.).

I know, that's getting pretty anal...I perused these forums but can't find anything so I'm assuming nobody went that far. And no, that's not me volunteering. I think that would require a lot of research...there are resources out there that list aircraft losses by day, sure, but I was just curious to compare in-game losses versus those real-world losses.

I did some work on this on the original version some years ago and still use it today. I did it on the same lines as your question to compare with the history
It doesn't translate neatly over to the Decision Games edition so very briefly

RAF Sqdns typically 12 aircraft on patrol
I work on a rough casualty rate of Lt=2, Hvy=4, Elim=6 with the results halved for fatigued units. Slight variations to the numbers for Blenheims, Gladiators and variant units Defiants etc

For German Gruppen typically a Jagd gruppe would 25, bomber 30 and Stuka 25 aircraft.
For 109'2 Lt=2, Hvy=5, Elim=10 increasing for 110's and bombers

Note that the Luftwaffe casualties are more in line with those "claimed" by RAF pilots as oppose actual losses.

Here is the data I used

The first set of figures are unit strength Ready/Fatigued
The next are casualties at full strength LT/HVY/ELIM and then at fatigued strength LT/HVY/ELIM

Supermarine Spitfire 12/6 2-4-6, 1-2-3
Hawker Hurricane 12/6 2-4-6, 1-2-3
Bristol Blenheim 10/5 2-4-6, 1-2-3
Gloster Gladiator (flt) 10/5 2-5-9, 1-3-5
Westland Whirlwind 12/6 2-4-6, 1-2-3
Curtiss Tomahawk 12/6 2-4-6, 1-2-4
Bristol Beaufighter 10/5 2-4-6, 1-2-3
Grumman Martlet 12/6 2-4-7, 1-2-4
Curtiss Mohawk 12/6 2-4-7, 1-3-5
Brewster Buffalo 12/6 2-5-8, 1-3-5
Fairey Fulmar 12/6 2-5-8, 1-3-5
Boulton Paul Defiant 12/6 3-6-9, 1-3-5
Sea Gladiator 15/5 3-7-10, 1-3-5
Miles Master M.24 12/6 3-6-10, 1-3-6
Gloster Gauntlet 10/5 3-6-10, 1-3-5

Messerschmitt Bf 109 25/15 2-5-10, 1-5-8
Messerschmitt Bf 110 25/12 3-6-12, 2-6-8
Junkers Ju 88 30/15 3-7-14, 2-6-10
Dornier Do 17 30/15 4-9-16, 3-8-10
Heinkel He 111 30/15 3-8-15, 2-7-10
Junkers Ju 87 25/12 4-9-14, 3-6-9
Focke-Wulfe Fw 200 30/15 3-7-14, 2-6-10
Heinkel He 115 20/10 3-7-12, 2-6-8
Henschel Hs 123 25/12 4-10-15,3-8-10
Heinkel He 59 5/3 1-3-5, 1-2-3
Dornier Do 18 5/3 1-3-5, 1-2-3
Henschel Hs 126 5/3 1-3-5, 1-2-3

Fiat Cr. 42 Falco 25/15 3-8-15, 2-7-10
Fiat G. 50 Freccia 25/12 3-9-15, 2-7-10
Fiat Br. 20 Cigogna 30/15 4-9-16, 3-8-10
Cant Z. 1007 Alcione 6/3 1-3-5, 1-2-3

The higher casualty rates generally reflect the more vulnerable the aircraft type.
For a recent game that I on that rare occasion I won that ran from 11 Aug to 19 Sep, RAF losses were
281 - 108 Spitfires, 164 Hurricanes, 6 Blenheims, 3 Defiants
Luftwaffe losses claimed by RAF were
1130 - 173 Bf109s, 152 Bf110s, 225 Ju88s, 340 He111s, 155 Do17s, 64 Ju87s, 15 He115s, 5 Hs126s, 1 Do18

Sir, I appreciate the work you did, BUT, there is no such thing as "elimination" in the new game.

So, do you suggest moving everything over one result (i.e. Abort: 1 loss, Light Loss: 2 loss, Heavy Loss: 4 loss)?

I don't own the 2nd edition/Decision Games version. My calculations are based on the original game. Its just meant as a guide that you can adjust to fit in with the combat results on the new version.
