I've really been loving the feeling of finishing a game of Caverna, Through the Ages, or Agricola where you look down at the great thing you've made. What games are great for feeling that way? Preferably nothing too expensive!

Android It's basically a very long take that game with a story.

Pretty much any game that involves tile-laying can do that. I'm surprised to see Suburbia mentioned without its successor, Castles of Mad King Ludwig. Then there's Galaxy Trucker and Steam Park.

I really enjoy the finished product of Carcassonne: The City as well as Medina (second edition). Both really have a lot a visual appeal deep into a game. Medina can still be found for relatively little money these days, as well.

Galaxy Trucker and Factory Fun are just as much about building something as about victory points or winning.

For example in Factory Fun, I would rather end the game with a factory full of twisted intertwined pipes than to actually win the game.

Another type of game is a building game like Villa Paletti. What fun when the villa reaches really high and is balanced precariously on only two pillars on the bottom level. We always play teams. I must admit to being disappointed when the other team accidentally knocks over the structure even though that means a win for my team.

I agree that most tile-laying games have this:
+1 for Castles of Mad King Ludwig
Vegas Showdown
Shipyard
Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King
Steam Works
Sanssouci
Asara
Lunarchitects/ Glen More
Alhambra
Subdivision

Polyomino tile-laying games in particular are cool to see the finished "puzzle"
Patchwork
Bärenpark
+1 for A Feast for Odin
Amerigo
Expo 1906

As far as non-tile-laying games with good "I/ We built that!" feeling at the end:

Burano
Santorini
Cleopatra and the Society of Architects
+1 for Steam Park
Arboretum
Co-Mix
Fields of Green
Legacy: The Testament of Duke de Crecy
Ark & Noah
Castellan
Best Treehouse Ever
Kodama: The Tree Spirits

I actually feel that way about Kingdomino. I like to look at my kingdom and imagine it's a real place.

Indigo looks amazing when it's finished (not individual creations, though).

Dunegon Pets - I like to put all the sold pets on display with their customers. It's makes for a really fun story to review at the end of the game.

Puerto Rico - It's fun to sit back and see your production buildings and plantations, and talk about the engine you built each game.

Brass: Lancashire - The way you depend on others to build your empire of industries, makes this a unique experience. You can sit back after a victory and say, "We built that! But I won!"

Mine are definitely Euro heavy. But that's my wheelhouse.

Good luck and have fun!

Many fine suggestions in this thread.

I am a fan of building games. Nothing in gaming comes close to that experience to me. My favourite game is Rivals for Catan and the two expansions to that. Endless possibilities to build stuff. And the game is not over when you finally built something impressive, but you got a few turns to see your buildings in action. It is this last part, that so many other games lack, that makes The Rivals for Catan truly great.

For me I get that feeling at the end of Dinosaur Island. I have the edition with lots of different dinomeeples though - but it looks so cool at the end, your very own dinosaur park!!
