We're about to play Cry Havoc for the first time for all 4 players.

I want everyone to feel the game is balanced, so that they will be interested in playing again.

What do experienced players recommend?

1. Play with basic default skills only, or add in special skills?
2. Any particular faction that is weak that I should be aware of?
3. Add anything from the Aftermath expansion?

Default skills only, no expansion bits. Give the weakest player the Trogs, the next weakest the Humans, then Pilgrims, and strongest player gets the Machines.

I also wrote strategy guides for each faction if you want.

I have found that playing with just the default skills can feel unbalanced. I would recommend to start with two of your friends are moderately experienced gamers.
The strategy guides are nice... But maybe too much to throw at someone on their first play?

Sorry, I meant for the poster here to read so he can give his pals a few pointers. I'd never mean for someone to throw docs over the fence to read before game night. That seems lousy!
