Unlike other clan abilities which are difficult to put an exact price on due to the unique utility they provide, Bonsai's ability is different because you can actually quantify it in terms of average gold saved. I then became curious as to how powerful the ability is. That's all.

Let's assume two Train mandates a season. First purchase typically most expensive card, followed by typically the third most expensive (since other players are likely to buy others). Variance is for whether or not Bonsai is able to make a single stronghold, and since two strongholds in a season is extremely unlikely, it will be excluded. The power of the Bonsai clan ability can swing wildly depending on the alliances and actions of Lotus, and so for these calculations Lotus shenanigans will be excluded. Same goes for Ryujin, especially since Bonsai can't grab Komainu if anyone decides to challenge.

Coins saved per season (base game without expansions):
.................card costs......savings
SPRING:......2&2..............2-4 (2 is 0 strongholds, 4 is 1 stronghold)
SUMMMER:..3&2..............3-5
AUTUMN:.....4&3..............5-7

Coins saved per season (with expansions):
.................card costs......savings
SPRING:......3&2..............3-5
SUMMMER:..3&2..............3-5
AUTUMN:.....4&4..............6-8

Coins saved per season on average (without expansions):
3.33-5.33 coins

Coins saved per season on average (with expansions):
4-6 coins

CONCLUSION: Assuming you're playing with expansions, the Bonsai clan ability "Sacred Bounty" will net you ~5 gold per season, plus or minus 1 gold depending on whether or not you were able to make a stronghold. This puts Bonsai's equivalent seasonal income to ~9 gold.

My question to you all is... how do you believe this compares to other clans? Is the extra 1-3 gold per season worth the drop in honor and mandate manipulation that Lotus can provide, etc etc.

NOTES: Please keep in mind that this "equivalent gold income" (outside of abuse case scenarios) of 8-10 is less useful than just starting with 8-10 gold because you have less gold to make deals and bids with and because its power is diminished greatly if you do not go for the expensive cards, thus limiting your options.
