Is this going to be true deck building? Can’t imagine it would.

I would LOVE to see this game as a 3D clank type game. All the classic tropes of Fireball Island with the deckbuilding of clank. It would really make for a super dynamic game!

I know the game is no longer roll and move, any news on how much deck building there will be?

Sorry for the confusion here Aaron, but what is giving you the impression that their is any decking building mechanic in this game?

Did I miss something? If so, could you kindly point me in the right direction?

He might have seen a reference to the fact that Clank! was an inspiration. However, that was only as to the press-your-luck endgame mechanic. There is no deck-building in the game. You have a hand of two cards. On your turn, you play a card, move, and do the action. Then draw back up to two.

Also that the game lists deck building under mechanisms on its BGG page. Wishful thinking too!

I just submitted a correction for that (EDIT: the BGG page that is, not the wishful thinking ). Hopefully it will go through.

While doing so, I found some more listed mechanisms that I find rather doubtful. I'll list all the currently listed mechanisms here, and give my thoughts on to which extent they seem to fit, and maybe if people agree we could update them?

- Action / Movement Programming
Not quite sure I'd call it programming when you "execute" the movement right after you play the card, but ok…

- Action Point Allowance System
This doesn't really seem to fit?

- Area Movement
Area Movement is defined in the BGG glossary as "a mechanism used chiefly for war games, movement traverses irregular areas rather than a grid". I can maybe see how that rather short and simple definition could be thought to sort of fit Fireball Island, but to me "Area Movement" kind of implies that you have more than one unit, so that the units can cover an area while moving… I don't know, what do you people think?

- Deck / Pool Building
I already requested that this one be removed, based on Justin's comment above.

- Pick-up and Deliver
Not much delivering going on, but I guess this is a loose fit.

- Press Your Luck
Seems very reasonable

- Set Collection
Yup.

- Take That
Absolutely

This is interesting!

Personally, I'd get rid off: Action/Movement Programming, Action Point Allowance System, Area Movement, Deck/Pool Building and Pick up and deliver.

I do think: Press Your Luck, Set Collection, and Take That! absolutely apply!

It is not area movement, more of a choose one of multiple paths.

Yes. And if opponent gets hit by a fireball, everyone can evoke Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade...
