I have noticed there are units that have their missile type surrounded by a red circle and others by a black one. They colors of the unit have no bearing as two types of "brown" unit both have a red and a black circle a piece. My guess is the red means a 'one time shot' unit, there are also archers with Red circles as well. Any guesses?

I'm pretty sure the colour has no relevence. I think it's due to the counter background colour and the distinction between them.
