I know that two floor pieces aren't supposed to overlap.
But can you - when building a higher level - use one column to support two touching floor pieces?
For example when I place a floor piece in a way that its edge covers only half of a column, can I use the same column to support another floor piece later on?

As long as you're covering 3 columns, I'd say you can use a half covered column to support a different floor.
