I'm just looking at dipping my toe in the SCS water with Autumn for Barbarossa... I see there is a Vassal module, which looks pretty good, but does the game play well PBEM? Or should I be looking to find a live online game?

(I'm playing ASL PBEM, so I'm relatively comfortable with driving Vassal, logfile manipulations, etc).

It worked great during testing with PBEM, so I would say yes.

Thanks Hans, couldn’t ask for a better recommendation

So, is anyone up for a PBEM game with a noob?

I might have a PBEM game with you at some stage (assuming you can teach me how to handle PBEM in combo with Vassal). But not now, maybe in 2-4 months time - my main gaming focus now is playtesting a different game.

@Anthony: I haven’t entirely worked it out myself yet, until I see how many retreats there are rather than step losses, how many choices for where to retreat, and how much defender retreats change what the attacker does next, I don’t know how often we’ll need to stop and exchange log files. I’m happy to help with Vassal PBEM in general though, and I’m sure we can work out the details, so please do get in touch again when you have some free time.

@Alan: Sounds good, thanks, I’ll wait to hear from you.
