I want something that would allow you to build things, like bridges, bunkers, foxholes, etc

as well as outfit your whole crew. Like a squad of men.

individual guns, grenades, etc

I know they are miniature games but I want a board game like this. Anything?

If I were to hang my head, I'd miss all the rainbows. And I'd drown in raindrops instead.

Sniper! (first edition)
Firepower
Boots on the Ground (much less detailed than most)
Patrol!
Ranger
Soldiers: Man-to-Man Combat in World War II
maybe Gunslinger and Gladiator or Up Front
and Man to Man
plus titles from Two Hour Wargames (THW Game Design) (often played with miniatures, but could be done on a mapboard)
. . . to name a few. Others can add to the list.

But I don't know if any of these games involves building things--certainly nothing as time-consuming as a bridge or bunker. Even digging a foxhole is something that would happen before the game starts, not during play. Man-to-man games represent too short a time period for that.

Just to be absolutely clear. You're wanting a highly detailed man-to-man wargame? Not a highly detailed man, to man a wargame?

This games plays pretty well, have a lot of hours in it. When I was younger even made tiny 1/4" in counters.

Not man-to-man, but there are some individual men in those games. Also in Lock 'n Load and similar squad-based games.

Phoenix Command (and supplements) is a great game system, from what I've heard. I owned the rules (maybe I still have them somewhere), but I never got around to playing the game. Looked very detailed and more complicated than most such games, IIRC.

Advanced Squad Leader, there is nothing that is even close to as good as that one when it comes to what you ask for.
