We just launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring a CIA training game to the public. We're two days in and almost funded – the campaign runs until May 22nd.
Last year, the CIA revealed information about several games that they use to train their agents. These games were classified Top Secret but they were recently declassified and shared through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. We’re updating their designs and publishing a public version
Our version is called CIA: Collect It All and it’s based on the competitive training game Collection: Deck. Players take on the role of CIA analysts that are racing to gather intelligence in order to defuse crises. The CIA’s version was heavily censored to we’ll be creating some new cards and updating the visuals. We’re also designing a storytelling variant that lets the players craft narratives around the crises and techniques.
This is a collaboration between Techdirt and Diegetic Games. We’re excited to work together and bring this game to a wider audience.
