It seems that the kickstarter pre-order is no longer available. I was thinking about buying both Birmingham and Lancashire, but so far I've only seen Lancashire for pre-order. That's the case of CSI, M.Market, Cardhaus and many others. Why is that so?

Probably because that version is the updated version of the original Brass game. Birmingham is a new game, based on the mechanics of Brass. From a business viewpoint I safer to invest in something you know will sell instead of buying into a new game.

Wim's answer is a good one. Both games will be available at retail, but each individual store decides for themselves what want to invest in stock for.

Personally I am confident that Brass: Birmingham will do extremely well after fulfillment as the community plays, discovers, and discusses it. I expect some stores that didn't originally carry both may change their minds after both have been out for a bit.

I have a hunch there will be a secondary market for Birmingham KS copies. Something like 12,000 backers got both games because getting both was a deal, and some of them will be happy to keep one and sell the other.

(Personally, I got both but have a pre-existing deal to sell Lancaster when it comes)

Curious, in the online stores here in Canada, both seems available to preorder.

Thank you very much!

EDIT: Well, they are both out of stock at The Dice Owl already. Board Game bliss does not ship internationally (well, it does to the US, but that's it apparently). Starlit Citadels also doesn't have them to pre-order. So back to waiting.

I’m going to be in the market to get the KS version of Birmingham. I missed the Kickstarter and I didn’t realize the retail wouldn’t have those amazing chips.
