So, Peter Olotka just tweeted out this link:

https://escapevelocity2018.sched.com/event/EbaO

I have no insider knowledge about what it might be, but wild speculation GO! whistle

EDIT: Make that MAY, not April. Blast.

The RPG!

The CCG!

The major motion picture!

The ESA's new GAIA Star Map released tomorrow shows a giant cone pointing at Earth! It is supposed to revolutionize astronomy, but I hope it's less exciting than having to ask for defensive allies. I'm not sure our hand is very good right now.

I'm going with "Cosmic Surprise" as a new entree at Peter's favorite restaurant. Yum!

I had the Cosmic Surprise at Gus' Galaxy Grill, I do not recommend it. There was some abdominal discomfort.

I'm so glad this didn't turn into a Mobius Tubes joke.

I wish it was all released from the warp. That would have been less uncomfortable.

Probly.

I remember there was a plan, many years ago, for a CE CCG, but it never was completed.

Other possibilites, but less likely:

1. Corrected errata components made available.

2. Big Box edition - Base game and all expansions

3. Blank cards available so people can customize their games, as they did in the Mayfair days.

4. Deluxe edition with sculpted planets, gate, warp, and more elaborate ships in a dozen colors. 3D foil cards, each with a mag stripe, and an automatic card shuffler which sorts out the cards as needed, removing the flares after the game, etc.

Remember: Cosmic Encounter is "a Game of Infinite Possibilites"!

I see Jack Reda will be there. That is a good sign.

It's far too niche, but I've hoped they'd release a "Cosmic Reda" expansion - full of stuff Jack has created for the game, which is on balance really good.

I wouldn't read too much into Jack being there. He lives within a reasonable drive of the event, so he'd go just because it's Cosmic and he's Jack. If I weren't on the wrong coast, I'd be there too.

Of course, if Jack is involved with whatever the surprise is, I wouldn't be at all surprised. Or something.

The most recent Cosmic project that I am aware of was the publicly playtested 2-player version of the game. It was supposed to resurface for more testing early this year, and it didn't. Could be that it's ready to go now, but I don't really know.

There is another Olotka panel called "Cosmic Encounter: Into the Future," so apparently there is one for the game...cool...

I'd kinda love to see a Wiz-War type game using the Cosmic universe. Tom Jolly told me at a con a few years ago that Cosmic was definitely an influence on the design for Wiz-War.

Aliens trapped in a tesseract (the warp?), having to work against each other, or together, to win the prize...which might be the Mobius Tube to the regular cosmos....

The 2-player project was a separate Cosmic Encounter game, not an expansion. Quite similar to the "normal" Cosmic game, but with significant, clever rules changes to make 2p shine. At the end of the public playtest, parts of it could have been used to expand Cosmic Encounter, but a lot of it simply wouldn't apply. (And vice versa.)

I do hope we see the 2p Cosmic game at some point. It was very promising and I had a really good time playtesting it.

That is intriguing, actually. How to make a game that is so dependant on players getting into it with two. I hope it comes out because I would give it a go in a heartbeat. Most of my Cosmic games are four people and when I am lucky enough to play with six it is almost always more fun.

I would love to see an app. TTS is done well, but I much prefer an app. I dedicated most of my free time to playing on the old Flash site, and a part of me has been missing since it was taken down. And if it is an app, no Dork and Brat, please.

I suspect it'll be a new game or expansion though. They seem pleased with the TTS implementation.

I love playing it on TTS. I think it is the closest it can get to the in-real-life experience with the social meta-play.

The silliest combo I've read about is Cosmic Encounter and 1830. Each 1830 player adopts one of the Cosmic Encounter powers (note that was the original Eon games version).
