1. Does a defending unit benefit from the steep slope terrain modifier if the fire is indirect fire coming from a lower elevation through a steep slope hexside?

2. On the Terrain Effects Chart the modifier for Steep Slope is -2, while the rules (page 13, third bullet point) say the modifiers are -3 or -1, depending on the direction. Clarification?

Nope - only in-hex terrain gives a benefit from indirect fire.

The rules are correct and the TEC is wrong here - use the mods in the rules.
