In a multi-hex attack, if one of the attacking stacks (in our case a stack of one unit) is eliminated by defensive support fire, does the Suppression result for that hex affect the attack by the other hexes?

A suppression marker sitting in an empty hex doesn't seem right. :-)

Yes. Suppression generated from support affects the Combat itself rather than a specific hex.

Seeing the guys on your left get annihilated by artillery tends to dampen the attacking spirit even if you are not targeted yourself.
