This is the hardest puzzle we take with us when we demo Fantastic Factories at conventions.

It's a bit of a brain teaser.

Puzzle Solution:
1. Put the 3 on Generate: +3 energy total 5
2. Use the Trade School to change the 4 to a 1 (-1 energy, 4 left)
3. Use Cloning Facility to change the 5 to a 1 (-2 energy, 2 left)
4. Use the Fitness Center to decrease the 2 to a 1 (-1 energy, 1 left)
5. Use the Golem to create a new 1 die (-1 energy, 0 left)
6. Put all four 1s on the Headquarters +4 goods

That is great! On the first sight you really wonder how do I should get the headquarters running, but then...

Spoiler (click to reveal)

1. Generate with 3 makes +3 energy = 5 energy total to spend
2. Trade School with 1 energy = 1-die
3. Cloning Facility with 2 energy = Turn 5 to 1-die
4. Fitness Center with 1 energy = Turn 2 to 1-die
5. Golem with 1 energy = 1-die
6. Headquarters with 4 x 1-die = 4 goods

It would be even harder if you add more disturbing factories ;-)

I promise, I figured this out on my own and haven't looked at the posts that have been made already!

Spoiler (click to reveal)

1. Use Trade School to turn the 5 to a 1. (-1 Energy)
2. Use the Golem to make a 1. (-1 Energy)
3. Spend the 3 for Energy. (+3 Energy)
4. Use the Cloning Facility to turn the 4 into a 1. (-2 Energy)
5. Use the Fitness Center to turn the 2 into a 1. (-1 Energy)
6. Use the 4 1's to generate 4 goods using the Headquarters.

I remember this puzzle from PAX South last year. IIRC I solved it pretty damned quickly. Really hoping to see some really good puzzles out of folks.

It's so funny how your brain will take you on this whole adventure in the wrong direction and you have to force it to open up and find the correct path. The whole way down the wrong path feels so right until you realize it's wrong. It took me a bit but I figured it out eventually. Good puzzle !!!

My solution (before checking others):

Trade School: -E to change 4 to 1 (1 2 3 5 E)
Fitness Center: -E to change 2 to 1 (1 1 3 5)
Generate: -3 for +EEE (1 1 5 EEE)
Golem: -E to add 1 (1 1 1 5 EE)
Cloning Facility: -EE to change 5 to 1 (1 1 1 1)
Headquarters: -(1 1 1 1) for +4 goods (GGGG)

Use the golem again for a 2
Generate 4 energy with the 2
Gain a 3 with the golem
Reduce the 4 by 1 and the 5 by 2 with fitness center
Use the 4 3s to gain 4 goods and have a remainder of 1 energy

I didn't realize that you can only use each card once, so with that in mind...
Use trade school to change the 5 to a 1
Use golem to create a 1
Use the 3 to generate 3 energy
Use the cloning facility to change the 4 to a 1
Use the fitness center to reduce the 2 to a 1

I was just reading over the rules and just noticed that lol! I was just assuming that the ones without workers could be used as much as you want.
