PDF rules quote wrote:
When a space that is forming a village (ie a space that has only one colour of tribesman) gets a population of exactly 5, then a village is formed in that space. This is how Wayfinders gain prestige among the islands.
After you form a village, pick up the 5 tribesmen and place them in front of you. Replace the tribesmen with a hut of the same colour as the tribesmen.
There is no requirement for formed villages to be of the same colour as the active player in that text. The confusion arises from the next paragraph in "Scoring a village" which reads in part:
Each village of your colour that you create is worth 25 points.
This partially contradicts the previous two paragraphs in regard to who
does the creating and scoring (...that you create...). I see two possible interpretations:
1) Players only get points for creating their own villages and those points are tracked off the board.
2) Players get points for all their villages, no matter how they are created, and all scoring is done at the end of the game.
To date I've picked the second as more consistent with the language quoted from the "Forming a village" section. Which is correct?
