for creating the badge!

The sun is burning right now ... at 7:00 in the morning cry
Did I mention that I don't like summer?

Anyway, we get a great requirement out of that weather ...

So, this month's requirement is:

Heat

Remember: The requirement is just a requirement - not necessarily a theme! It's up to you, how you involve it in your game!
(Bonus points for totally not including Han in your game ...)

Happy designing and kind regards,
Kai

p.s.:

In the behaviour rules (see link to basic rules thread above) I've written:
Quote:
Please create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.
Please do present your game along with a short description in a posting. The reason I ask you to do this is simple: Creating geeklist entries becomes easier for me because from time to time copy-n-pasting from PDFs produces unexpected results (such as copying only odd symbols into the clipboard ..)
Thanks a lot

And if you'd like to spread the word of this contest, feel free to tweet about it:

Woo! New month, new chance to make a game!

Last month ended up being way too busy as I switched jobs, but this month is looking good - and I do really like the requirement.

Well done!

You need to post your entry here, with a maximum of 1 image, 1 PnP file, 1 rules file, and a short description, all so that Kai can paste it into the voting geeklist at the end of the month.

Have a look at the rules thread (see the link at the top of this thread) for the full details.

Hi all,
I started 24 HR CONTEST - Nova in the Next Dimension [Contest Ready] about 6 and a half hours ago. I mentioned it in my first post to get an accurate start point for verification. I received a reminder to post here. Sorry. New to the contest. Content coming soon.

I ran a playtest on the game. It was mostly enjoyable, but a few tweaks needed to be made. I made them. I'm going to declare it contest ready, since I'm quickly running out of time.

Thanks, Rob. What did I miss? The WIP thread has everything.
But in case I need it in this thread...
here's the picture.

And here's the game: [LINK]

And here's the paragraph of text:
Quote:
Nova in the Next Dimension is a solitaire worker placement game which plays in about 30 minutes, and is recommended for players 10+. You will take control of Nova and the Alvos, helping them build a transdimensional machine to escape this dangerous world. Use caution. Dark forces are hunting them at every turn.

The WIP is in my first post.

It's cool, I'm sure, but, unlike most other contests, this one doesn't rely on WIP threads (though some people make them -- usually for further development after the contest), and everything is based on the thread for the month.

So what you are meant to do is post once on this thread when you start, and once on the thread when you finish, including your title, description, download links, etc. The reason for this is partly that it's a monthly contest and keeps things under control, but mostly so that Kai has an easier time of it when he puts together the geeklist for voting.

Things are generally pretty free and easy in this contest and we're mostly here to have a bit of fun and get some motivation and practice, but it's got to be best to follow the rules, don't you think?

Congratulations on completing your entry though. I have an idea, but need to find the time to give it a go...

Ah, what the heck? I'm going to go for it. I don't know how much time I will have available to finish things off tomorrow, but I have ideas bouncing around my head and I don't think they will leave me alone until I have something at least slightly playable.

This month is one of those times when a jokey title jumped into my head and wouldn't let go. So, hopefully, within 24 hours we will have "Packing Heat", a game about gangsters going on vacation...

I would like to present...

Packing Heat
Gangsters on Vacation

Even the mob must take a holiday from time to time. You and your fellow gangsters are packing for your vacation, and need to make sure you pack all the essentials, including beachwear and sunscreen. Of course, you are always looking to turn a profit, so will do your best to end up with the most cash possible, and to ensure you get your way it might be worth packing some heat alongside the flip-flops.

Packing Heat is a quick card game for 3 to 5 players designed by Rob Harper.

Read about the phases in the main thread of rules - looks like the phase of theme is set obviously (heat). Just wanted to ask and make sure before I potentially spend time on the theme/game that the contest is still open!

The "phases" are just contests/months rather than stages you go through. The July contest (Heat) is running until the end of July in your timezone, so there is still time for you to join in -- and it would be great if you do! Just post your "start" message and then, within 24 hours, post your PnP files, etc.

Good luck!

Awesome! I will likely give it a go tomorrow (as I have the day off).
Is there a particular PnP tool that I should take a look at? I'll google some. Traditionally I've just used table top simulator or a sheet I've got in photoshop.

Wow. That was a lot more difficult than I anticipated! But was a lot of fun.

I'm excited to share (and may even continue working on in the future):

If there's one thing that gets everyone hot headed, it's traffic. In Road Rage, your goal is to keep your cool so you can survive the traffic, making it home, all while using your fuel efficiently.

Road Rage is a 1 player game only.

Rules of the Road: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1S6IFBcNGLDfvYgu7MDVtsy4noT...
Card Sheet: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Gu7V4GnPEHPK59V8Rzmj9XuPX7...
Handy-Dandy Fuel Action Infosheet (Quick Reference): https://drive.google.com/open?id=19FDlbPxC-xiQ5-l5IxAJFtq-og...

Hope it's OK, I had one extra sheet for the Fuel Action Card info as it took me quite a bit of time to figure out nandeck to get the print and play stuff right (honestly, would have done more with the game if I didn't have to spend some much time on that).

Full disclosure, Road Rage is meant to be difficult. Even with a quite a bit of play testing for tuning, the win rate right was a bit above 50%.
