Hey guys! I am in the stages now where I have my mechanics fairly sussed and want to test rules and flow of play by making some pieces out of card. The issue I have is that the way my game works is that we need different shaped rooms (Think Mad king Ludwig) and the rooms need to adhere to a grid based system.

The grids need to be the same size across all room pieces and be big enough to put the minis/components on without going over into other squares on the grid.

Does anyone know how I would go about designing such a thing? Is there a program that can generate specific sized grids on the paper?

Thanks for any advice or assistance you can provide

Look into RPG map generator tools:
http://rpgvirtualtabletop.wikidot.com/mapping-software
http://gridcartographer.com/
http://pyromancers.com/

Otherwise... get yourself some square grid paper (to start size does not really matter, but large squares are available) and a pen and off you go!

(you can even download some grid templates and print your own paper)

You can also find lots of graphics to use on your maps in the "Mapping Objects" category on RPG Map Share.

You can buy square, triangle and hex grid paper. You can even buy target (ring & radii) paper. $5 for 80 sheets on Amazon.
