Simple question that came up after the guy I play this with started playing solo with the app...

When do you reveal the various rooms and enemies on the board?
- all at once
- line of sight

All at once is basically "build out the entire thing prior to playing"

And line of sight is more like the old game Hero Quest, where you only reveal room tiles as the characters progress through the area.

It's kinda important since if you do it line of sight it alters rebel strategy quite a bit and also places a lot more stress on the rebels ... of course it also slows down the game considerably as the imperial player will have to constantly be fishing out more pieces.

So yeah, what are your thoughts?

I'm assuming you're talking about campaign. The campaign guide tells you exactly how to set it up. The initial board setup should match the diagram exactly.

so yeah, I am talking about campaign. should have clarified.

But yeah, when you play against the AI app campaign = you reveal the boards according to line of sight and moving through the map.

That difference between AI and print had us wondering about that distinction.

p.s. obviously the map tiles would be laid out exactly as they are in the campaign, no "creative input" on the IP. the rebels would just be dealing with more of a fog-of-war scenario.

There are MANY differences between the app campaign and the tabletop campaign modes.

Make sure you thoroughly read p2 of the Campaign Guide. There is some really important info in there that will help you see a lot of the differences.

It is also advisable to check the Rest Action and rules for recovering strain, as there are some significant changes there between the app and tabletop too.

We played through about 7 missions in the campaign prior to finding out how they handle the maps in the app. All rules we've been addressing have been per printed rules (and the countless clarifications we've had to look up thanks to the ultra specific scenarios that keep cropping up).

I assume, by your response, that all-at-once is the only option.

Yes, it is all at once, unless the mission says otherwise.

Rebels can also ask where the named rooms are, and they probably should, as it allows them to know when things might get important. This, and some other very important info is all mentioned on page 2.

Many people skip reading that page and it leads to disastrous results, such as the Rebels not knowing how many rounds are left for them to complete the mission.

Everything except for enemies behind closed doors are added in the initial setup. The campaign guide tells you when to add reserved deployments - usually when doors open.

The LotA app campaign is vastly different than the original IA campaign, and the rules do not translate over well

app campaign = map tiles are revealed when the app says so
IA campaign = all map tiles are placed at the beginning, except in very rare instances and it'll explicitly say "only put these map tiles", ex. gray side mission from ISB pack, a lot of missions in JR with map swap

There's a lot of other rule changes like being Stunned, resting, a lot of Imperials can do move+attack as 1 action... between app campaign vs. IA campaign

You have to unlearn what you have learned to play the other
